Royal Building Products is relocating its western Canada PVC fittings production operation to take advantage of better manufacturing and transportation logistics.
Royal said Oct. 17 it will move fittings operations from Surrey, British Columbia, 40 miles east to Langley, British Columbia. The move was effective Oct. 21.
“Our new location is optimal for manufacturing and storing more than 1,000 fabricated and injection-molded fittings products that Royal supplies,” stated Royal pipe and fittings vice president Lorne Smith in a news release. “This new location with proximity to the Trans Canada Highway, will provide easier pick-up for customers in the lower mainland of British Columbia as well as easier carrier access for shipments across Canada.”
Royal is moving its entire manufacturing team as well as white collar workers to Langley.
Royal began producing fittings for western Canada in Surrey in 1975. Initially the operation focused on the municipal market but in 1999 it added production for electrical, plumbing and industrial markets. Langley will continue injection molding of fittings from ½ inch to 36 inches in diameter. Although its main focus is on western Canada markets, it is making custom fittings for the whole Canadian market.
Royal Building Products is a division of Axiall Corp. Axiall was formed early this year by the merger of PVC major Georgia Gulf Corp. of Atlanta and the commodity chemicals business of PPG Industries. |
