Graham Group has completed the integration of its plastics machinery platform. Welex Inc.'s plant in Greenville, N.C., has closed, and the company is wrapping up work on the first Welex extruder built at what had been the Graham Engineering Corp. plant in York, Pa.

The news was expected – consolidating work in York was part of the plan when Graham bought Welex in July.

Now Welex has manufactured its first extruder in York, and the machine will ship in late January, according to the company.

"The customer, an important Welex relationship, visited last week for the factory acceptance test, which went perfectly," said Graham Engineering President and CEO David Schroeder, in a news release.

He added that the companies, long with American Kuhne Inc., "create a convergence of leading technologies, people and capabilities in extrusion."

Graham Group bought a majority interest in American Kuhne in October 2012, and added Welex last year. In October, the three companies exhibited together at the K 2013 trade show in Germany.

Graham makes blow molding machines, Welex makes sheet extrusion lines, and American Kuhne makes single-screw extruders.
