Tredegar Corp. is spending $18 million on a new extrusion line in Guangzhou, China, to increase the production of surface protection films.
The Richmond, Va.-based company said the investment by its Tredegar Film Products unit will include a high-performance clean room environment and inspection capabilities.
Increasing demand for products including tablets, smartphones and larger displays is helping growth in the surface protection films market.
"This investment will build upon our existing manufacturing capabilities in the region and support the growing demand for high performance displays and advanced materials used in the manufacture of these displays," said Bapi DasGupta, vice president of Tredegar Film Products' surface protection business unit, in a statement.
Tredegar expects the extrusion line to be fully operational by early next year. |
